Perpustakaan Hamzah Sendut (PHS) FAQs are available for use by all library patrons and visitors.

Basically, library collection comprises of two types; open shelf collection and special collection. Open shelf collection can be borrowed out by customers, while special collection abides to a certain rules and mainly for internal use only. Yes you can borrow book(s) at any Library.

How many and how long a person can borrow a book will depend on their category of membership. This can be referred at this link  (Loan Eligibility).

Book(s) can be returned at the Circulation Counter of the Library during opening hours.

Yes, book(s) can be returned at any USM Library.

Book can be renewed using two (2) ways.The 1st one is by returning a book to the Circulation Counter OR through online renewal - patron login account (onetime renewal only if by online).

If you encounter problems, assistance can be sought from the Readers Advisory Counter at (604) 6533720.

To reserve a borrowed book, patrons need to login into their library account, search the title and click at the word “Place Hold” on the top of the right hand page of the screen, click “Confirm Hold”. The status of the reserve item will be shown as “Pending”.

The amount for late return can be referred here page 13 (Fines).

Lost or damage item is under customer's responsibility. Please report to i-Counter immediately. Library will check the price of the lost item. Next customer will be advised to choose whether to replace and buy the lost item by themselves OR to ask library to handle the buying process but in this case library will charge the customer a double price for the replace items.

Library Account is a platform for library members to manage their circulation activities such as checking borrowing details, checking fines, making an online reservation and updating profiles. Click here for link to log into the account. Login ID is either your IC number or passport number and password is default 123 (can be change later by patron).

Yes, first of all, please register your name at Circulation Division for our own record. Next, we will brief you about our services and facilities including a lift usage, assistance for book searching and room for study.

Lost items will be kept in the library if found in library premise. You need to go to i-Counter to claim /ask about the item(s).

No, any foods and drinks are prohibited in the library except for plain water.

No, there is no photocopy machines in the library but there is a photocopy shop outside the library premise.

Media Services is available at level 2, PHS 1. This services provide customers with an audio-visual items, music room, viewing area and leisure area.
