Yes, it is a compulsory to send your articles/projects to the library because it will be kept as an archive collection for the university.

Library allows only staff children to enter Library with the supervision of their parent. Students' children are not allowed except for a short while such as for borrowing or returning books at circulation counter.

There are three types of lockers; pay per use (RM0.20), pay per semester (RM10) and free.

Yes, we do allow customers to come in with eco-bag or laptop bag. However backpack is not allowed due to many pockets which make Library staff difficult to check at the entrance. Meanwhile, Library provides lockers outside the building for locating customers' belonging.

Library organize exhibition regularly at PHS 1 with different themes. During the exhibition, customers are welcomed to visit the exhibition area freely. For those who want to collaborate in setting up an exhibition, do not hesitate to contact us via email to

Malaysia Public University's students may come into the library for reference only by displaying your matrics/students card. However, other university's students must get permission from Chief Librarian through official letter before coming to library.

No, any foods and drinks are prohibited in the library except plain water. Actually, library provides water dispenser at several spots for customers' convenience.

Library provides few photocopy machines in the library, but customers need to buy a photocopy card from photocopy centre (ground floor outside the library). Printing also can be done there at the photocopy centre

There are – carrel rooms available in the library. Customer is allowed to use the room for one semester with RM Lockers are provided in front of the library to store customer's belonging. There are 3 types of lockers; free of charge, RM0.20 per use or RM10 per semester.

Basically, library collection comprises of two types; open shelf collection and special collection. Open shelf collection can be borrowed by customers, while special collection abides to certain rules and mainly for internal use only. It is a division where Malaysiana & Archive collections are kept. Malaysiana collections encompass of any publication about Malaysia, Brunei or Singapore, while archive means any printed materials about USM. Apart from the core, there are also other collections such as Special Collections (Gerald Hawkins, Kassim Ahmad, Prof. Muhammad Haji Salleh, Tun Hamdan Sheikh Tahir, Prof. Dato' Dzulkifli Abdul Razak and Kaum Peranakan) and Rare Books Collections (published before 1945 for Malaya, before 1900 for non-Malaya). Library book drop is provided to ease customers to return library borrowing books especially during library closure. It is available in front of PHS 1.
