Yes, first of all, please register your name at Circulation Division for our own record. Next, we will brief you about our services and facilities including a lift usage, assistance for book searching and room for study. Yes, it is a compulsory to send your articles/projects to the library because it will be kept as an archive collection for the university.
Library allows only staff children to enter Library with the supervision of their parent. Students' children are not allowed except for a short while such as for borrowing or returning books at circulation counter.
Yes, but only by request by providing information of the donor such as name and address or email.
There is a lot of power plug to charge any of your ICT equipment. Just used it properly. :)
Yes, there are three types of lockers; pay per use (RM0.20), pay per semester (RM10) and free lockers
Yes, we do allow customers to come in with eco-bag or laptop bag. However backpack is not allowed due to many pockets which make Library staff difficult to check at the entrance. Meanwhile, Library provides lockers outside the building for locating customers' belonging.
You need to fill up a request form available at i-kaunter, PHS 1 to get this book.
Malaysia Public University's students may come into the library for reference only by displaying your matrics/students card. However, other university's students must get permission from Chief Librarian through official letter before coming to library.
Lost items will be kept in the library if found in library premise. You need to go to i-Counter to claim /ask about the item(s).
If you try to access online databases from outside campus or using your personal wifi/broadband inside campus, you must login first using Off Campus Login via Open Athens.
Go to www.lib.usm.my and click Off Campus Login via Open Athens. Next, please enter your USM official email address and password for example firstname.lastname@example.org (staff) or email@example.com (student) to gain access to USM databases.
Only EcoBag is allowed to enter the library. Keep green guys :).
No, any foods and drinks are prohibited in the library except for plain water.
No, there is no photocopy machines in the library but there is a photocopy shop outside the library premise.
Yes, for carrel rooms you are allow to use if you are the postgraduate student or academic staffs of USM with a certain fees for one semester. For details information, refer to this link (Carrel room brochure)
Lockers are provided in front of the library to store customer's belonging. There are 3 types of lockers:
• Free of charge
• RM0.20 per use (key locked)
• RM10 per semester (rental)
Yes, library foyer is opened for sales and students' activity. Please write in an official letter to Chief Librarian, Perpustakaan Hamzah Sendut for approval. The charge for sale is RM90 perday. For further info, please email to firstname.lastname@example.org
Basically, library collection comprises of two types; open shelf collection and special collection. Open shelf collection can be borrowed out by customers, while special collection abides to a certain rules and mainly for internal use only. This division is located at PHS 2 (nearby USAINS, School of Distance Education and USM Mosque) which handling all journal related activities. It also the division in-charge for databases subscription. This division is open daily from Monday to Friday, 8.30 am – 4.30 pm.

The attires that library allow is a dress code provided by the University. Short skirt and pant (above knee) are strongly prohibited. For USM Dress Code, click Here!
Lost or damage item is under customer's responsibility. Please report to i-Counter immediately. Library will check the price of the lost item. Next customer will be advised to choose whether to replace and buy the lost item by themselves OR to ask library to handle the buying process but in this case library will charge the customer a double price for the replace items.
