In addition, the Library also provides the following services:
- Reader Advisory Desk
A Librarian is
available at the Reader Advisory Desk to answer queries about Library
services and location of Library resources.
- Inter-Library loan
service
The Library
undertakes to provide Inter-Library Loan Services for the academic staff
and postgraduate students of the University. Books not available in the
Library can be borrowed from other libraries for their use. The Library
also acquires on request photocopies of articles in journals which are not
in the Library on request. Details of these services can be obtained from
the
Head, Inter-Library Loan and Reprographic Services Unit.
- Photocopying service
This service is
handled by a private company and is available at the times when the
Library is open. Operator-assisted as well as self-service magnetic card
operated photocopying machines are available in Main Library I and II.
- Reprographic
services
The Library has
facilities whereby prints from microforms can be made.
- Recent acquisition
display area
A selection of
recently catalogued items are displayed in this area. Users may borrow any
of the books on display.
- Carrel rooms
A limited number of
carrel rooms are available for use throughout a semester for academic
staff and postgraduate students only. Applications can be obtained from
the office of Reader and Extension Services Division. However, a carrel
room is available for daily use. Please enquire at the Reader Advisory
Desk (ext. 3720).
- Group study rooms
Students can use
these rooms for two hours at a time in groups of at least four persons.
- Lockers
Since bags and
parcels are not allowed to be brought into the Library, users are advised
to place their belongings in the pigeon holes placed outside the Library.
In addition to these, a limited number of lockers are available for rental
to students at the start of a new academic session. However users are to
be responsible for their own belongings
kept at the pigeon
holes and lockers.
